Healthy Texas- Brooks County

Brooks County is one of 27 counties involved in the Healthy South Texas Initiative. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and The Texas A&M Health Science Center have partnered to make this a successful initiative. Healthy South Texas is a Program focused in providing educational and informational programs intended to educate and inform individuals in South Texas about the most common diseases in our state. Some of these diseases include: Diabetes, Asthma, Heart Diseases and other Infectious Diseases. The goal of Healthy South Texas is to communicate the importance of healthy living styles and how these reduce the chances of getting the aforementioned diseases. Some programs that Brooks County has implemented to help local residents adopt a new healthy lifestyle are mentioned below.
